Sometimes an import cannot go through, and Tradish tells you why. Here are the messages you might run into, grouped by where they come up, with a quick fix for each. Most of the time the next step is small: try a different post, switch to photos, or check your connection.
"We can't import from that app yet. Try sharing from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, or Reddit, or paste the recipe link instead." What to do: Tradish reads posts from those apps. Share from one of them, or copy the post's link and paste it into the social import screen.
"We couldn't open that post. Check your connection and that the post is public, then try again." What to do: Make sure you are online and the post is public, not private or deleted, then try again.
"We couldn't find a recipe in that post. Try a post whose caption spells out the ingredients and steps." What to do: The caption had no recipe to read. Pick a post where the creator wrote out the ingredients and steps in the caption.
"We had trouble turning that post into a recipe. Try a different post." What to do: Something in that post tripped up the parser. Try another post, ideally one with a clear written caption.
For more on this, see Saving from social media.
"We couldn't find recipe details on that page. Try taking photos of the recipe and importing those instead." What to do: That page had no readable recipe. If you have the recipe on paper or on screen, scan clear photos of it and import those.
"We couldn't reach that link. Double-check the URL and your connection, then try again." What to do: Confirm the URL is complete and correct, check that you are online, and try again. Pages behind a login wall cannot be reached.

"We can't read that image format. Use a JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP and try again." What to do: Pick a photo in one of those formats. Screenshots and photos straight from your camera are usually fine.
"Those photos came out too blurry to read. Retake them in good light and try again." What to do: Take fresh, in-focus shots in good light, hold steady, and fill the frame with the recipe.
"You've used all of your free imports for the week. Upgrade for unlimited imports." What to do: Free accounts get a set number of imports each week. Wait for your imports to reset, or upgrade to Tradish Pro for unlimited imports. Opening a recipe someone shared never counts against your limit. See Import limits explained.
If an import runs but comes through with gaps rather than failing, you can fill it in on the review screen or edit it later. See Fixing a recipe that imported incorrectly.
